Free Internet Multiplayer Games

Free Internet Games for Kids, Your Friends and Family

Engage friends and family: play free internet multiplayer games. Game playing online can be interactive and fun; find fun free internet games for yourself and for friends.

Online gaming is getting more and more popular every day. At the top of this list are free internet multiplayer games. These types of games are becoming more and more popular. There is usually a download associated with these games, and some can be quite large. But once you have the download installed, it's smooth sailing from there on.

A lot of the free internet multiplayer games will have item stores that allow you to spend real money if you want to outfit your character with items that you may not be able to obtain through normal gameplay, but these stores are completely optional. So let's take a look at what's out there.

Note: If you are a parent with young and/or teenage children, it is highly recommended that you check out these games before playing with your children (or before letting your children play them without you - always make sure that you understand clearly the purpose of the game and the type of play - there are lots of game review sites to check out games from a safety perspective).

Mythos

MythosMythos is a massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) that plays a lot like Diablo. That makes sense, as a lot of the team that created Diablo II, is working on Mythos. The game is currently in Closed Beta phase, so feel free to sign up and give it a try. I have been playing the game for a few months now, and have to say that they have done an excellent job. Especially considering that there will not be any charge to play the game.

Mythos allows you to play alone, or join a party with your friends. Up to 4 people can play together in a party and explore the world of Uld. Get enough friends together, and start your own guild. Mythos has everything from an auction house, to in-game email, to a full blown crafting system.

Mythos provides fast and varied gameplay, that rarely feels like you are grinding. The gameworld is pretty good sized, and all dungeon zones are instanced for each player or party.

The game is a lot of fun to play, and the community that has grown around it is full of very friendly people. Flagship Studios, the game creators, listen to that community and many ideas that came from the community have been implemented into the game. Mythos tops the free internet multiplayer games for value and fun.

To sign up for the Beta test, go to www.mythos.com and create an account.

Requiem: Bloodymare

Requiem BloodymareRequiem: Bloodymare is another MMORPG in a horror setting. Requiem just finished the closed beta testing and will be opening very soon for an open beta signup. This game has an age requirement for blood and gore. However, that does not detract from the fun of the game. Requiem has a deep character creation system that allows players to combine a primary and secondary class.

Requiem uses DNA that allows you to customize your character. This gives you full control over the evolution of your character and allows for a wide range of builds. Your character is also able to transform into different types of "Beasts" that gain power as you level up and add skills and abilities to your beast forms.

Requiem has a large PVP (Player Vs. Player) arena system. This allows for battles that range in size from 8 vs. 8 all the way up to 96 vs. 96. The winners of these arena battles are rewarded with rare equipment and weapons.

Requiem is free to download and play, and the community is full of friendly people. They will have options for those who want to pay to get better or more rare items, as well as a tiered membership package. However, none of that is required to jump in and have fun. As free internet multiplayer games go, it's a blast to play, and has a few twists that I haven't seen before.

Dungeon Runners

Dungeon RunnersDungeon Runners is another in the line of free internet multiplayer games. This one mixes humor in with fantasy. Those who have been gaming for many years may remember the original Dungeon Runners text based MUD (Multi-User Dungeon). This is considered the update to 3D, and as free internet multiplayer games go, it's a blast.

You select one of three character classes and play as a Fighter, Mage, or Ranger and use weapon skills or magic to fight the hordes of evil. Dungeon Runners allows you to play solo, or to group up with friends to explore the world. All dungeons are instanced, so you don't have to worry about competing with other players for the good areas. There are also many dungeons that are randomly generated with helps with re-playability.

For a free internet multiplayer game, Dungeon Runners is a lot of fun to play. The voice acting is great, and the humor that is thrown in will actually make you laugh. There is only one downside with the game. If you choose not to pay, you will know about it. You will have a sizable portion of your screen taken up by advertising, and you will also see many items in the game that are labeled as "Members Only". The game is only $4.99 a month to play, so it really isn't all that expensive. I would recommend playing the free version to see if you like it, and going for the monthly fee after that.

Run over to www.dungeonrunners.com and sign up.

Travian

TravianTravian is one of my favorite free internet multiplayer games. It is played completely online, so no downloads. If you are a fan of slower paced games, I think you'll like this one. Travian is split into game worlds that start new games every month or so, but you can join in at any time. Each game will last a few months, and will include 10,000+ players.

Each player starts with a small village that you then build up by adding different types of buildings and resources. Buildings are built and upgraded with 4 main resources. Along the way you will need to build up your army and prepare for the invasion that comes on every server.

Alliances are available to join, and you'll probably need to before to long. When the invasion comes, you'll want some backup. You will also be able to trade resources through your marketplace, send troops to raid other villages, or send troops to aid your alliance partners.

The game is a very slow paced game. You can log in, perform a few actions, and don't have to worry about it till later. As an example, to upgrade your resource fields at the beginning, you would issue the command, and then come back in about 30 minutes when it is done. Higher level resource fields can take 5+ hours to upgrade.

Travian is free to play. They have the option to buy a 5th resource, gold. Gold is used to enhance your resource output, boost offense or defense, and speed construction. They have different packages that you can purchase, but it is completely optional.
