DVD Drive Not Working

My DVD drive blinks but the icon does not appear on my computer. I have checked unplugged the wires and checked everything and then plugged back in...still the problem isn't resolved.

A couple of questions for you: Is the icon listed in the device manager under DVD/CD ROM drives? Which icon are you referring to? What program are you using?
